For over 34 years in service with the New York Police Department, he led the Elite Hostage Negotiation Team for 14 years, coordinating more than 100 negotiators.

Serving 16 years in the Emergency Service Unit — the division dedicated to rescue, hostage recovery, anti-terrorism, and SWAT operations — he participated in over 5,000 crisis situations, including the World Trade Center attack.

He was selected to train the United States Joint Task Force and cadets at the West Point Military Academy, and the character played by John Turturro in the movie The Taking of Pelham 123 was inspired by him.

Thanks to his extensive theoretical and practical expertise, he is now a leading figure in crisis negotiation for agencies, businesses, and organizations worldwide.

Writer, former magistrate and  politician, he is the author of award-winning novels and essays.

Former Deputy Prosecutor at the Anti-Mafia District Directorate in Bari and Senator, he introduced the legal thriller genre to Italian literature.

Creator of the character Guido Guerrieri, an attorney who became the inspiration for a successful television series, he was a finalist for the 2012 Strega Prize.

His novel The Past is a Foreign Land won the Bancarella Prize in 2005 and inspired the film of the same name by Daniele Vicari, starring Elio Germano and Michele Riondino. His numerous bestsellers are translated worldwide.

What are the participation requirements for the Negotiation Forum?
  • In-person, with the option to choose from the front rows (Suite) and seats in the Business area. Both ticket types include a lunch break.
  • Live streaming, with the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers, interact with other participants and forge new business relationships.
Where and when will the event be held?

The Negotiation Forum will take place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Unahotels Expo Fiera Milano, via Keplero 12, Pero (MI).

Before the event, you will receive an email with a special rate for participants to book accommodation.

Lunch is included in the participation fee.

How do I participate in the streaming version?

To participate via streaming, simply purchase a ticket and connect on the day of the event, following the instructions that will be sent to the email address provided during registration.

The streaming is accessible from any device. For the best experience and to participate in networking, we recommend accessing from a desktop or tablet.

In the days following the live streaming, we will notify you via email when the recording of the entire event will be available in the On Demand Area: you can watch it anytime for 30 days.

Can the event be financed through the use of interprofessional funds?

Yes, it is possible to use interprofessional funds to finance participation in our events, utilizing your training account or through grant procedures/announcements and training vouchers.

Is a group discount available?

Discounts of up to 15% are available based on the number of tickets purchased.

Once the package is purchased, you can provide the details of all participants within 30 days of the event start date.

Is it possible to interact with the speakers?

Yes, in both the streaming and live versions, it will be possible to send questions to the speakers.

Will I receive materials to apply what I learned?

In the weeks following the event, you will receive a follow-up that includes a detailed Executive Report.

What happens if I register but can no longer attend?

If you can no longer attend, by notifying us of your absence at least 15 days before the event date at info@performancestrategies.it, you can choose to:

  • be replaced by another person;
  • attend one of the events to be held in the following 12 months;
  • opt to follow the event in streaming mode and request activation of your access link.
 
What happens if I register and then force majeure circumstances prevent the event from taking place?

Your credit is always guaranteed: if the live event cannot take place, you will have the option to attend the event in the live streaming version or retain your credit for a future event of the same value.
